Boyd couple found niche with Mount Palomar Winery

Mount Palomar Winery is owned and operated by Louidar Inc., an Arizona limited liability company.

Kris May, director of operations shared, “We are in the planning stages of creating the most beautiful and exciting destination resort spa with a Tuscan old world flavor on our 315-acre property. Our concept consists of a residential gated community with one-acre lots surrounded by vineyards. Our resort spa, restaurants, shops and winery will remind you of an all-inclusive Italian Village with all its charm, amenities and boutiques.”

Craig Boyd, the winemaker for Mount Palomar Winery, which is on 33820 Rancho California Road, has spent almost two decades as a winemaker and has found his niche in the smaller wine regions.

Boyd shared, “With harvest time upon us, the recent warm spell we experienced had put me into a state of panic. Thankfully though the weather cooled off and all is well, and, I feel like a normal human being once again!”

He continued, “Every winemaker will know just what I am talking about.”

Early this year, Boyd shared that he began in the nuclear power business, however, he recognized that his interests were with winemaking, and that he indeed had a talent for it. He then studied and graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a master’s degree in enology.

Boyd has kept the Mount Palomar tradition of classic Bordeaux-style blends and Italian varieties as well as producing the port and the popular Solera Cream Sherry.

Boyd says, “Wine never sleeps.” He and his wife Denise have settled into the country life and, among their many hobbies, enjoy their five horses, Pete, Puma, Dot, and PJ, who are all Peruvian Paso, and Chloe, who is a Tennessee Walker.
